Distressed Area Recompete Pilot Program – Phase 1

The Distressed Area Recompete Pilot Program (“Recompete”) provides grants to alleviate persistent economic distress and to support long-term, comprehensive economic development and job creation in places with a high prime-age (25 to 54 years) employment gap. This program seeks to invest in programs and organizations that have a clear understanding of local conditions and pathways to create and connect people with good jobs while ensuring the program’s benefits are shared equitably and across diverse geographies.

National Clean Investment Fund

The National Clean Investment Fund competition will provide grant and cooperative agreement funding to 2-3 national nonprofits to create national clean financing institutions capable of partnering with the private sector to provide accessible, affordable financing for tens of thousands of clean technology projects nationwide and accelerate our progress towards energy independence and a net-zero economic future.

Clean Communities Investment Accelerator

The $6 billion Clean Communities Investment Accelerator competition will fund 2-7 hub nonprofits with the plans and capabilities to rapidly build the clean financing capacity of specific networks of public, quasi-public and non-profit community lenders—such as community development financial institutions (including Native CDFIs), credit unions, green banks, housing finance agencies, minority depository institutions, and others—to ensure that households, small businesses, schools, and community institutions in low-income and disadvantaged communities have access to financing for cost-saving and pollution-reducing clean technology projects.

Capacity Building for Repurposing Energy Assets

Concept Paper Due: November 6, 2023

The Capacity Building for Repurposing Energy Assets will support capacity building and workforce development planning in communities that host existing energy assets that have retired, or are slated for retirement, and that comprise or comprised a significant portion of local activities (e.g., jobs, tax revenue). Eligible applicants include municipal governments and nonprofit organizations.

Tribal Electrification Program

The Tribal Electrification Program provides grant funding and technical assistance to Tribes to increase the number of Tribal homes with zero-emissions electricity. Successful applications will be limited to projects directly related to the planning and implementation of electrification through: the provision of electricity to unelectrified Tribal homes through zero-emissions energy systems, transitioning electrified Tribal homes to zero-emissions energy systems, and/or associated home repairs and retrofitting necessary to install and prepare for zero-emissions energy systems.

Tribal Broadband Connectivity Grant Program

National Telecommunications and Information Administration

The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Grant Program supports projects that expand broadband access on tribal lands. The TBCP provides grants for two types of projects: 1) Broadband Infrastructure Deployment Projects and 2) Broadband Use and Adoption Projects (including Digital Equity). Grants funds may be used for a range of projects related to broadband deployment, telehealth, distance learning, broadband affordability, and digital inclusion.

ReConnect

Department of Agriculture

ReConnect offers loans, grants, and loan-grant combinations to fund construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in areas of rural America that currently do not have sufficient access to broadband.

Climate Ready Workforce for Coastal States, Tribes, and Territories

The Climate Ready Workforce for Coastal States, Tribes, and Territories Competition provides grants to assist communities in coastal and Great Lakes states and territories so they may form partnerships that train workers and place them into jobs that enhance climate resilience. Applicants do not need to have a background in climate resilience but are expected to engage with employers that have good jobs that enhance climate resilience, as well as with strategic partners who can work with the applicant and employers to ensure the training provides the skills needed for those jobs.
