The Just Transition Fund is thrilled to welcome our new Director of Communications, Camille Simpson! As the Director of Communications, Camille is responsible for orchestrating and overseeing strategic communications and media relations to advance JTF’s mission, vision, and organizational initiatives.
She brings more than a decade of award-winning communications and marketing experience from grassroots, private, and nonprofit sectors worldwide. She began her career as a publicist in Las Vegas where she supported media relations for non-profit, healthcare, entertainment, and medical clients, and then transitioned to serving as a Community Health Advisor in Peace Corps Madagascar. There, she concentrated on behavior change communication and capacity building to uplift the wellbeing and quality of life in rural areas on the southeast coast, focusing her work on malaria prevention and education, safe motherhood, water and sanitation, and nutrition. Upon her return, she transitioned into the non-profit field to lead communications and marketing teams at mission-driven organizations.
She is recognized as an industry leader and was honored with the prestigious 2019 “Emerging Leader” award from the Women’s Fund and Community Foundation of Central Illinois. Camille’s commitment to excellence also earned her place in the esteemed 2019 class of “40 Leaders Under 40” by Peoria Magazines and one of “25 Women in Leadership” by 25 News, WEEK in 2020.
Camille hails from Kansas City, Missouri and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where she became a decorated collegiate speech competitor. She is deeply committed to the art of masterful branding and storytelling as drivers for progress. She firmly believes that real influence and meaningful change emerge at the intersection of innovation and accountability.
She and her husband are located in Central Illinois where they live with their two dogs, Marvel and Stark.
