JTF support provides funds to hire a grant writer to apply for $393,024 in federal funding.

Grant Amount: $25,000

Computer Reach makes technology available to people most in need through refurbished equipment, computer literacy, training, and support in Southwestern Pennsylvania. JTF support helped the organization bring on a grant writer to successfully secure $350,000 from FCC’s ACP Outreach Grant Program. It has been piloting ACP enrollment in Washington County, PA and additional capacity from the ACP Outreach Grant Program will allow it to expand this pilot to Greene and Fayette Counties. Using FCC funds,  Computer Reach will enroll 600 new families. Assuming these households are enrolled in the ACP program for 18 months, that would leverage an additional $324,000 in federal subsidy funding.

“Internet access is unaffordable for many families living in low income households.  There is now money available to subsidize $30/month internet service for these families through the Affordable Connectivity Program.  Most families have no idea this money exists or how to apply to the Federal government.  That is our mission at Computer Reach, to meet people where they live in Washington, Greene and Fayette with in-home help filling out the online eligibility forms and then assisting them in dealing with internet providers.  Thanks to the JTF we were able to apply to the FCC’s ACP Outreach Grant Program to have boots on the ground in those 3 counties partnering with local school districts to identify those families most in need.”
