Our team is growing, and we recently welcomed Rhea Carter as our new Development Manager!

Originally from Knox County, Kentucky, Rhea is a systems-level thinker who is passionate about giving back to the place that raised her, which is why, as a multigenerational Appalachian, the granddaughter of a coal miner, and a first generation college graduate, she was drawn to the JTF. As the Development Manger, she’ll support JTF’s fundraising team and help maximize our team’s success and efficacy.

Rhea graduated cum laude from Berea College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a double minor in Appalachian Studies and Peace and Social Justice Studies. She also holds certificates in Successful Grant Writing and Results Based Accountability. She served for two years as an AmeriCorps fellow at Partners for Rural Impact assisting residents of southeastern Kentucky’s Promise Zone in digital equity, postsecondary access, and youth development.

Since 2022, she has assisted in securing around $2.5 million for organizations in Kentucky, and before joining the JTF, she was the Grant Writing and Fundraising Specialist at Legal Aid of the Bluegrass. Rhea is a 2023 Obama USA Leader and now resides in Lexington, Kentucky. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her partner, Micah, and cat, Stella.
