In six counties in Eastern Kentucky, one of the regions in the country hit the hardest by the loss of jobs in the coal industry, Boom KY is partnering with local school districts to implement training focused on technology and innovation. More specifically, the organization is developing a project called Boom GPT, which will focus on helping youth and adults launch startups and learn artificial intelligence by providing personalized guidance, resources, and training. The project’s goal is to empower individuals to create tech-driven businesses that address local challenges, fostering tech-based economic development and innovation in the region.
“We are thrilled to be the recipient of the Coal Community Get Ready Challenge. Partnering with Just Transition Fund will help Boom KY develop Boom GPT, a groundbreaking tool that will enhance our ability to scale and provide entrepreneurship training across school districts and communities affected by the transition away from coal. At Boom KY, our mission is to guide students in launching startups and creating new opportunities within our communities. By empowering our youth, we aim to build the next generation of local economies and drive sustainable growth in the areas that need it most.”
