Now Accepting Applications and Nominations!

The Just Transition Fund (JTF) is requesting applications and nominations for the 2025 cohort of Coal Community Convening (CCC) Fellows!

The CCC Fellows Program supports the next generation of leaders in coal communities by sponsoring a small cohort of early-career, community-based professionals to attend our annual National Convening. Fellows will have the opportunity to connect with a national network of transition stakeholders and learn about timely, practical topics in the just transition field. Our goal is for fellows to leave the Convening energized, with new ideas, tools, and connections to support their work and professional growth.

About the Just Transition Fund

The JTF is on a mission to create economic opportunity for the frontline communities and workers hardest hit by the nation’s transition away from coal. Established in 2015, the JTF helps to strengthen local economies by promoting inclusive and equitable growth. We believe in place-based economic development strategies that support local entrepreneurs and build on community assets, and we prioritize support for the coal-affected areas of the U.S. that are experiencing the most distress.

About Us

About the Convening

The National Convening is the JTF’s signature annual event, bringing together a broad range of just transition stakeholders, including local economic and workforce development experts; labor leaders; local, state, and federal government representatives; philanthropic leaders; and private sector innovators and entrepreneurs.

Attendees share lessons learned, network with peers from across the country, and strategize about the movement’s most pressing opportunities.

Fellows will receive:

Sponsored attendance at the JTF 2025 Convening, including paid lodging at the conference hotel and a travel stipend.

A virtual pre-Convening preparation session with JTF staff and other community-based attendees.

A mentor at the Convening who is an established leader in coal community transition.

Networking opportunities with a cohort of peer Fellows and other Convening participants.
